First Boo Boo

Yesterday evening Titus got his first major boo boo. It was almost his bed time and he was beginning to fuss...but being the busy mommy every mommy is I decided I would fold one small load of laundry before sitting down to feed him. I put T in his bumbo seat and set him on top of the dryer as I always do. I rigged it up so that he couldn't fall backwards and gave him a little curious George stuffed animal to play with. He was quiet and happy and I was almost finished with the load when WHAM! I had leaned over to pick something up off the floor and he had leaned forward to pick up George. He took a dive head first onto the dryer door(which was open) and caught the bridge of his nose. When he hit the door it bounced him into a backflip and I caught him as his head hit the carpet. His head didn't hit the floor very hard since I was able to catch him, but his nose was bleeding when I picked him up. I held his face against my shirt, grabbed my phone, and ran out my back door to my friend Nina's House. I knocked on her door, but she did not answer, so I opened the door walked inside and said...Nina I need you. She came downstairs and examined the wound while I held T. We couldn't see if it needed stitches or not, so Michael looked at it and said he didn't think it did. I called Mark to let him know and sat at Nina's until my legs stopped shaking! Nina looked at my feet and said...Annie, did you bring shoes? I told her nope...I just grabbed the baby and ran. We all had a good laugh at that and I went ahead and walked back home. On my way home, I asked one of the little boy's in my neighborhood if he knew anyone who was a nurse. He took me to a lady's house
(I had just met her earlier that day) and she cleaned it out and told me what I needed to do to care for the wound. We sat on the couch and had a wonderful conversation and Titus acted like nothing was wrong at all. When Mark got home from work he went in to inspect the damage and we both felt so bad for the little guy...yet we were smiling because he was so happy to see Mark...that is when I snapped these 2 pics for the memory book. He slept fine last night and it doesn't look any worse today... he acts like nothing is wrong at all.

My son took a good fall this week into the bedroom door - He has a black eye today (I just removed the picture from my blog at my dad's request) He doesn't seem like it bothers him either. Hope it all heals well and you don't beat yourself up too bad over the whole thing!

It looks so painful! Glad he is okay. When I read this post I could picture you telling it. Remember those wonderful college days.

Titus vs. Dryer Door... Dryer Door wins! Wow - nasty looking wound, but such a sweet smile. Glad everything seems to be OK!

Poor little guy!

Jack smashed his finger in the car door in February. I remember wishing that it could have been me!

He is still a cutie, though!

Love,
Erin

I am so glad to hear from you again! Josh and I were just talking about you the other day and I am going to take the computer up for him to see these picts! Guess you and Titus both got initiated. It doesn't matter if it is your first or fourth - that would have been scary! You will have stories to tell like that for every child. I just found Zoe today had climbed from the couch to the arm to the window sill of all things and ran to catch her before she took a step backwards! Thank the Lord for His daily hand of protection! It is amazing to see that painful face in such a sweet smile! What a great mom you must be. Still love and miss you! We would love to get down in that areas sometime now that we are a little closer!
