Malt-O-Meal

This post is specifically for my cousin Rachel. She is such a fabulous mommy and has asked me to put special deals or tips I find on my blog for her to take advantage of...so here is a good one Rach! (remember that the colored words are links:)
Everyone has seen the bags of cereal in their grocers aisle...and so many times I have just brushed over them to get to the "good stuff". Well, those bags actually pack quite a punch in terms of bang for your buck!
In college I had a bout with low iron (anemia). One of the references I spoke to during this time gave me a list of foods to implement into my diet in order to help raise the iron in my blood without having to take supplements. One of the many foods was Any Flavor Malt-o-Meal cereals. I remember questioning that since those bags were considered "junk" cereal in my mind. The woman explained to me that Malt-o-Meal cereals actually have higher levels of vitamins and minerals...and still taste like the other brands of cereals.
I tried it out and sure enough...any of their "flavors" has a good deal more nutrition than their famous brand competitors and they come in larger quantities which drops the price/ounce making them cheaper! I bought a bag for Titus this weekend and found out that they have high value coupons on their website...which makes them even cheaper...and they have a taste guarantee. So, if you get a bag of Honey Graham Squares and think they taste nothing like Golden Grahams...no harm done, you can get a full refund! So why not print a coupon and give it a try?

Anne, I enjoy your blogs too and learning ways to save money....keep them coming. I listen to the clark Howard show everyday to learn new ways to save money. You should check it out, if you dont already know about, it is a nationally syndicted radio show. Go to www.clarkhoward.com. Thanks again!

I really like Clark Howard show. We don't currently have a station in our area that airs the Dave Ramsey show, but there is a station that airs a Clark Howard show...and I do love listening to it! He gives all kids of helpful hints...like how to stop all the pesky junk mail and credit card offers! He also taught me how to clear the cookies on my computer...kinda random...but very helpful!

Hey, I found a bag of malt-o-meal fruity dyno-bites at our scratch & dent grocery outlet a couple weeks ago, thought about this post, and picked them up! A whole big bag for $1.29 and they do taste pretty good!

I kept this post in mind when I went to the commissary to go shopping. We budget $150 every 2 weeks for our family of 6 and with rising prices its becoming harder to eat healthier. So I've started making a LOT of stuff from scratch but when we hit that cereal aisle, the kids want the sugary cereals so its nice to know MaltOMeal is a good compromise.
