Fun Foodie

Does anyone out there LOVE cheese? Bread? How about both of them together?
Can I get a shout out for Cheese Bread???
I must admit that this is an area of weakness for my dear husband Mark. I have never met anyone else who can quite top this man's love of cheese!
This recipe is fun to make and although it takes a little time to create...it is absolutely mouth wateringly (if that is a word) delicious! ( I got the recipe at my last Apples of Gold meeting last week)
You will need:
1 round loaf of bread (store bought or homemade)
1/2lb-1lb of cheese (any variety is fine)
1/2 stick of butter
Garlic (to your preference...we like lots of it!)
green onion sliced (the bread is good without these...they just look pretty)
1 tsp. Poppyseed
Electric knife (optional)
Aluminum Foil

Begin by slicing your cheese into 1/4" thick slices that are about 2 inches long

Slice the loaf into 1" slices...but do not cut all the way through. You want to bottom to remain in tact! I recommend using an electric knife to cut the bread as it is quick and keeps the bread from getting squished.

Next, cut the bread in perpendicular 1" slices...remembering not to cut all the way through! Your bread will look like a checkerboard when you complete this step!

Now, stuff the cheese in between the slices. In the meantime, melt your butter.

placing cheese in sliced bread(yes, those are Mark's hands...
in case you were thinking that I desperately need a manicure...)

Once you are finished stuffing the bread. Add the garlic, poppyseed and green onions to your melted butter. Pour over bread and cover bread with foil.

ready to go into the oven

Place in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes, then remove foil and let bake another 10 minutes...or until cheese is melted.

Remove from oven when cheese is melted...and BAM! you have a yummy loaf of "Blooming Bread"
ready to eat...we didn't give it enough time to melt in the oven
b/c Mark couldn't wait any longer!

I am going to try this with some Mozzarella cheese, Olive oil, and Italian spices next time...sounds Yum-O!
ENJOY!
